How to use the anagram solver
Start with the letters you have. Choose whether the answer needs all of them, then narrow the results by length.
Make your first search
Enter LISTEN on the solver, leave Exact anagrams selected and choose Find my words. Each match uses one L, one I, one S, one T, one E and one N. SILENT, ENLIST, TINSEL and INLETS all pass that check. LISTEN itself can also appear: the solver keeps the original word when it is in the selected list. It checks letter counts rather than requiring a different spelling.
Results are ordered from longest to shortest, then alphabetically within each length. The small number on each result is its letter count, not a point score. In exact mode, every result naturally has the same length as your input.
Pick the right mode
| Mode | What it checks | LISTEN example |
|---|---|---|
| Exact anagrams | Every input letter is used | SILENT fits; LINE is too short |
| All possible words | Some or all input letters are used | LINE fits; LITTLE needs extra letters |
Use exact mode for a clue with a fixed set of scrambled letters. Use all possible words when you want to explore shorter words from a rack. Changing a setting clears old results so you do not mistake them for answers to the new search. Press Find my words again to apply your change.
Count repeated letters
A letter appearing twice is available twice, not an unlimited number of times. With AABB, BABA fits exactly: both sides contain two As and two Bs. AB fits in all possible words mode. BAB does too, but BABB does not because it would need a third B.
This is also a useful way to check an answer by hand. Write each distinct letter once, put a tally beside it, and compare the two tallies. Equal word length alone is not enough. A word can be the right length and still use the wrong letters.
Narrow the length range
The minimum and maximum fields count letters. To find four-letter words in LISTEN, choose All possible words and set both limits to 4. LINE and LENT fit those letters. For five- or six-letter answers, set the minimum to 5 and the maximum to 6. The largest supported input and result length is 40 letters.
In exact mode, a range that excludes your input length will produce no matches. If a six-letter jumble returns nothing while the maximum is 5, widen the range before changing the letters. The tool does not silently ignore your filters.
Use supported input
Uppercase and lowercase letters work the same way. Spaces, straight apostrophes and hyphens are ignored. THE EYES and theeyes therefore have the same letter counts. Numbers, accented characters, emoji and other punctuation are rejected with a message. Question marks are not supported in the anagram tool. For blank tiles, use the dedicated word unscrambler, where each ? replaces one letter.
The default list contains individual words. To test a complete candidate phrase such as THEY SEE, open the custom list controls and supply that phrase yourself. The custom list guide explains the format and how to check candidates without generating every possible combination.
Keep or share an answer
Copy results puts all matches on your clipboard, one per line. Save .txt downloads the same complete list, including matches beyond the first displayed batch. Show more words expands the visible results without changing the search.
Share solution opens a result card with a copyable link, a system share button, X and WhatsApp options, and a PNG download. The link restores your letters and filters, then finds the matches again. Wordle links also preserve every feedback tile. Anyone with the link can read those clues. Custom lists are never included in links; you can choose to save an image of their displayed matches instead. If copying is unavailable, select and copy the displayed link manually.
If you find no matches
First check spelling and repeated letters. Then widen the length range or switch from exact to all possible words. Finally, check which list you selected. A name, abbreviation or new term may be absent from ENABLE even if it is a valid answer in your puzzle. Read the dictionary notes before treating an empty result as proof that no answer exists.
Clear empties the letters and custom list, restores the full length range, and removes a shared puzzle from the address. Reloading also discards a custom list, so keep your original file.
